Nobody Expects the Spanish Inquisition! (Sorry, Couldn't Resist)
-
Spain is inviting Sephardic Jews from anywhere in the world to reclaim citizenship, an interesting mea culpa for the Inquisition. Jews were obviously persecuted, killed, and/or driven out of the country at that time, and there are relatively few left, mostly in places like Turkey; many are now Catholic because the families converted. But the descendants will all be eligible. I think I'm of Ashkenazic Jewish descent, so I won't be eligible, but it would be cool to have a second passport, not because I'd move but because it would just be cool to whip out a passport from another country, just because. What country would you want a dual citizenship in if you could claim one without any effort? (BBC)
