Drink On Dry Land And Your Chances Of Falling Overboard Diminish Considerably
-
The question raised by this woman's lawsuit against Carnival Cruise Lines is this: Whose fault is it that she got so drunk that she fell overboard, and did the captain refuse to turn the ship around to get her for 90 minutes, then refuse to airlift her to a hospital? She says the bartender kept pushing Long Island iced teas on her, and gave her more $5 coupons for the ship's casino the more she bought drinks. Read the description of her ordeal -- in the water for almost two hours, denied an airlift, 16 hours before she got treatment beyond painkillers -- and see if it sounds like they handled it reasonably. On the other hand, does she bear some responsibility? Did she think she could just keep drinking because, you know, it's vacation time? (Courthouse News)
