A study says that it found people get more distracted by overhearing one side of a phone conversation than if two people are conversing in the same room as the eavesdropper. The one-sided conversation makes people more irritated and distracted, but they remember it. And with people increasingly speaking loudly on cellphones in public, this gains some significance.
