Sandy, schmandy: The population along America's coastline is booming, with 40% of the U.S. population living in counties adjacent to coastline. The population density along the coasts is increasing even with the danger of weather-related disaster. But that also counts people who are on high ground in those counties, so there's that. And if you're inland, you're vulnerable to earthquakes, tornadoes, lightning, blizzards, flooding, and any number of other disasters, so what's the point? (NBC News)
