Ace Rothstein Is Watching With Interest
-
This guy admits that he doesn't have the cleanest record, being a convicted felon for bookmaking and loan-sharking, but he doesn't think that he should continue to be listed in Nevada's "Black Book," the list of characters permanently banned from all casinos in the state. But people on that list have always been on that list for life; the only way off is to die, and even then, the state Gaming Control Board asks for a death certificate to prove you're dead. Now, for the first time, someone's challenging the listing and trying to get removed from the list while still alive, and, to the board's surprise, they have to give him a hearing. If you're interested in the Wise Guy culture and the casino world, this is an interesting story. (Los Angeles Times)
