Getting Paid To Surf The Web? Who WOULDN'T Like That?
-
Wait, so a study says that people who goof off more at work are "more engaged with their jobs" than hard workers who contribute more to their companies' success? So... so what? What does that even mean, "engaged"? Why does that matter? Turns out that those low-performers THINK they give 100 percent and think they're better at their jobs than they really are. And they therefore LIKE their jobs more. And it's also the result, say the researchers, of the self-esteem movement: merit raises across the board and praise from bosses for mediocre work tend to perpetuate the low-performers' self-image. So, do you goof off? Do you think you do a good job? They're apparently related. (Today Show/NBC News)
