We Can't Have Nice Things

I love going out to Joshua Tree National Park in the desert, where the landscape is majestic in its moonscape-like solitude, amazing rock formations, and... graffiti? Yes, idiots, spurred by Facebook and Twitter impromptu competitions to post pictures of their handiwork, are spray-painting scrawls on the ancient rocks, causing the park to close off portions to visitors while the rangers play catchup with the cleanup. The moron taggers have even painted over petroglyphs. It really is a desecration. (NBC News)
