Maybe The Antennae Really DID Affect His Brainwaves
-
What duty does a landlord have to his or her tenants when someone shows up with mental illness and demands to be leased an apartment? In this case, a woman who had to jump from her fourth floor apartment to escape a fire is suing the landlord for leasing another apartment to the tenant who set the fire. She says that the arsonist wasn't evicted even though there were complaints about his weird behavior and leased him the place after he threatened to sue them. So he allegedly insisted that the antennae on the roof were "affecting his brainwaves," and when the landlord wouldn't remove the antennae, he allegedly poured gas in front of the manager's door and torched the place, killing two people. Now, this tenant is suing, and you can't blame her. If your landlord let someone who's clearly off his rocker live in YOUR building, you'd get a lawyer, too. Or move. (Courthouse News)
