As baseball enters the postseason and fans in places like New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, and St. Louis prepare for the march to the World Series, it's another year of "Wait 'Til Next Year" for the Chicago Cubs. Now that the Red Sox have gone from everyone's favorite cursed team to Yankee-like hated winners, the Cubs are the primary exemplar of long-term futility. It's not that they're in last place all the time, it's just that they never close the deal. 101 years and counting.
