Good Luck Getting A Job If You've Ever Been Sick
-
We've seen articles about this many times before, but here it is again, employers increasingly pushing penalties for employees who have unhealthy habits or pre-existing conditions. if you smoke, or have high blood pressure, or are overweight, they will make you pay, because you are ostensibly pushing premium costs for company health insurance up. That doesn't seem fair for some things – some of the conditions have as much to do with heredity then they do with habits – but you can understand that they would not want you to smoke. On the other hand, if this leads to discriminatory hiring practices, is that something we want to encourage? (Orlando Sentinel via Philadelphia Inquirer)
