If You Can't Stand The Heat... Um, Can We Refer To Heat With This Story?

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is demanding an apology from Sacramento Bee cartoonist Jack Ohman for an editorial cartoon about the West, Texas explosion in which the governor is shown talking about Texas' business-friendly climate (as he does in the radio commercials airing on California radio), saying, "business is booming in Texas!," juxtaposed with the explosion. Perry thinks that this is a tasteless exploitation of a tragedy, but the cartoonist and the newspaper or standing by the cartoon. And I think they should, because, whether you agree with that position or not, it's a valid expression of an opinion, and, after all, editorial cartoons are not supposed to be fair. They're supposed to be graphical representations of a strong opinion. That, it is. (CNN)
