Finally, Pro Sport Catches Up To Most Of The Rest Of Society
-
The question before Jason Collins came out wasn't just who would be the first male player in a major pro North American sport to come out as an active player, but whether it would need to be a superstar -- a Jackie Robinson-level star -- to make it work. Collins is decidedly not a star, but I wonder if this is better, just a guy you know, a regular, journeyman, active player, without a real image, a more regular guy. And now that he's done it, will more do it or will they wait to see what happens to Collins? (Sports Illustrated)
