Cutbacks at the Postal Service and radically improved technology have led to the elimination of most of the positions handling a critical job: the workers who decipher bad addresses. See, that's something you don't think about. somebody had to read your illegible handwriting and figure out what you meant. Now, machines do that. I wonder if the Postal Service is as accurate as it used to be. (New York Times)
