Instant, Ill-Informed Reaction? That's What Talk Radio's For
-
What the celebrities like Falcons wide receiver Roddy White or the Giants' Victor Cruz tweeted about the Zimmerman verdict that led to them having to give half-assed apologies isn't important. Neither are the details of what any other celebrity had to say about it, pro or con. The topic isn't that. It's the wisdom of tweeting in the wake of highly-charged news. Everyone has an instant reaction, and days or even hours later, you take a step back and reconsider and you might say something else. It's that reaction in the heat of the moment that gets people in trouble. Whether it's wishing death on the jury or doing an unseemly victory dance over Trayvon's body, celebrities did not acquit themselves well. And that might be a good reminder: Nobody's waiting with unbridled anticipation for what you have to say about the news. Maybe you can wait a day, think it over, and THEN weigh in.
