So We Know At Least Two Searches That'll Make You A Suspect
-
A writer for Boing Boing got a visit from county police, and why they showed up should, if it's true, scare the hell out of you if you value freedom: She says it appears they came to investigate because she Googled "pressure cookers" and her husband had been shopping for a backpack. If that's what happened, it makes the whole NSA deal more urgent, civil liberties-wise. I mean, if you actually want to buy a pressure cooker to, you know, cook food, and you put that in a search engine to, you know, compare prices and order online, and that's enough to trigger an official investigation, we're already down the rabbit hole. UPDATE: The police say that her husband had searched for "pressure cooker bombs" and "backpacks" on his work computer before leaving his job, and the employer snitched. Who do you believe?
