Yet Lawrence Welk Is Still On PBS....

Here's another Get Off My Lawn moment: an article about how hard it is for proponents to keep adult standards music popular. Turns out the audience is dying off, and younger people aren't interested. (Don't tell me about Rod Stewart and Michael Buble. Exceptions, who sell mostly to older folks, anyway.) Some of the music is great -- you can't go wrong with Sinatra, Tony Bennett, you know the classics -- but, come on, it's not relevant to anyone under 50. If you're in your 50s, it was your parents' music. If you're younger, your parents liked rock and soul and country. You can't force people to like any kind of music. (New York Daily News)
