Wait, WHY Do I Live Here Again?

California raised the state sales tax to the highest in the nation -- and, with local county taxes, it scrapes close to 10%, like here in L.A. County -- yet they're complaining that they may need more taxes to pay for all the stuff they spend on (like state worker pensions). They didn't understand that the price of stuff isn't always going to rise (and therefore won't raise sales taxes, based on a percentage of the price of goods). So they'll just slap taxes on services, too, from gardening to hair styling to exercise classes. And when that doesn't help and they've trashed the economy, they'll just take every dollar everyone earns, because, well, that's how it seems it's going to go. (U-T San Diego)
