But It Was My Only Friend

A study suggests that every hour a kid watches TV beyond two hours a day hurts his or her vocabulary and math skills, cuts classroom attention, and leads to social problems and diminished motor skills, and I do not buy that. I watched a LOT of TV as a kid, and I did fine in school and ended up... um... this, although I'm not THAT bad. I really hate the professor's quote about not learning social skills: "If you don't learn those skills, you get to kindergarten and cry every time someone takes your toy." You cry whether or not you watch too much TV, or you punch someone, which is no better. What, if you don't watch TV, you let the kid take your toy and don't do anything? (CBC)
