Blame Bryce Harper

It dawned on Osceola County, Florida officials that they were the only ones bidding on getting the Washington Nationals spring training camp to move there. That led to them rejecting spending almost $100 million on a new stadium in Kissimmee. It was going to be paid with hotel taxes, but how much can you tax tourists before you price yourself out of the tourism business? And why can't the Nationals pay for their own camp, or just fix up the one they have in Viera, where they still have a lease through 2017? Granted, Viera's not close to anything (or any other camp), but they can pay their own way out if they feel they need to. Time to stop handing over free stadia to rich sports franchise owners.
