Just Cut The Prices. That'll Get Me Buying More Broccoli

Some social scientists are trying to see how they can convince shoppers to buy healthier foods in the supermarket. One method they're trying: mirrors in the carriages so you get a good look at your fat jowly face and then, ostensibly, head to the produce aisle. Another idea: Yellow tape across the cart, with instructions to put fruit and veggies in one half -- and sales of produce went up. How about huge green arrows on the floor all pointing to the produce aisle? Well, these all beat taxing sugary, fatty foods. And people are pretty suggestible, aren't they? (New York Times)
