A Tradition We Could Probably Do Without
-
Oh, Lord, now that soccer's grown in popularity in America, we're not going to import hooliganism, too, are we? In Portland back in April, a Timbers fan was attacked by San Jose Earthquakes fans before a match. He was in his car, saw the Quakes fans, yelled "Go Timbers!," and a woman hit him and fell when he drove away. He stopped to see if she was okay and 10 to 12 men attacked his ca. Two Quakes fans have now been arrested. Imagine if they were fans of teams in a league that matters. (Oh, come on. I'm a soccer fan, but MLS is still nowhere near the Premier League or Serie A or any of the other top European or South American leagues...) (KPTV/Portland)
