Not Quite A Shutdown Referendum, But It's All We Have At The Moment
-
Would Cory Booker have beaten Steve Lonegan for the open New Jersey Senate seat by a narrower margin had the whole shutdown thing not happened? There was little chance Booker was going to lose, but the exit polls did cite the shutdown. And a Republican of Tea Party variety like Lonegan is a tough sell in a blue state; hardcore conservatives call Chris Christie a RINO but that's the kind of Republican who wins in places like New Jersey. Lonegan was more of a Ted Cruz than a Chris Christie. (Newark Star-Ledger)
