When We Said 'Keep,' What We Meant Was 'Lose.' You Just Misunderstood
-
Several news organizations, in this case CBS News, are reporting on how Obama said everyone would be able to keep their existing health insurance, yet by some counts over 2 million people will lose their policies and have to buy new, in some cases way more expensive plans. The administration refuses to acknowledge that they lied, saying that in many cases, the new policies will cover more, hence the increased price. But a lot of that extra coverage is unnecessary for everyone, like covering extra maternity costs that a childless couple wouldn't incur. The bottom line is simple: Obama said, repeatedly, "If you like your doctor or health care plan, you can keep it." And many people are finding out they can't. NBC says that the administration knew for three years that they were not telling the truth and kept saying it anyway. Will he get a pass on this or will people realize they've been had?
