THAT'S What They're Going To Drop The Hammer For?
-
The NCAA has had a hell of a time getting things right lately, and this is another example where they just didn't: A freshman basketball player at Colgate has been banned from playing for a year. Why? He played -- filled in, actually -- three games of church league ball this Summer while he served a religious mission. This was not competitive ball, this was a league of older guys (into their 50s) who are just playing for exercise and fun. Johnny Manziel got a half-game suspension, the University of Miami got less than a slap on the wrist, and this kid got a whole year? (Atlanta Journal-Constitution; Thanks to Deadspin for the link)
