Okay, now, again, nobody has an issue with real service dogs. If you're blind or disabled and a dog will enable you to do tasks you can't otherwise do, that's noble and good. But when people bring "support dogs" on planes for "emotional support," it becomes annoying. That's because the medical necessity for a dog to keep someone calm is not always clear. It seems like a lot of people are taking advantage of the service dog exception without the real need to do so, just because they like having a dog around. And if you're a traveler with allergies or an aversion to dogs, what do YOU do? Should there be some kind of line drawn -- medical necessity, yes, emotional need, no? (New York Times)
