How Much Is A Whole-House Generator, Anyway?
-
Remember last year, when someone shot at an electric substation near San Jose and nearly knocked out all the power to Silicon Valley? And how they said, well, that was just vandalism? The former head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission thinks it was terrorism and that the grid is very vulnerable to that, and that people are out there planning bad things. The FBI doesn't think it was terrorism, but don't you want to know that the utilities and the feds are taking precautions so that someone doesn't take down the grid? (Los Angeles Times)
