Fame's Not For Everyone

Dead: Christopher Jones, at 72. Who? See, that's the point. You'd remember him as Max Frost, the President of the United States in the cult movie "Wild in the Streets," and at the time, he was considered a fast rising star. What happened? He quit. Flat out quit the business. Why? Unclear -- he was having an affair with Sharon Tate before she was murdered, so that could have played into it. But he walked away, made a living as an artist, and, with the exception of a small role in a friend's movie years later, never went back, not even when Tarantino offered him something in "Pulp Fiction." He just didn't want to do it, which is less surprising when you learn he also once went AWOL from the Army. He just did not, could not, would not fit in. I can respect that. (New York Times)
