Is Protectionism Really 'Smaller Government,' Governor?
-
New Jersey's Motor Vehicle Commission has voted to block direct Tesla sales to protect "regular" car dealers. Because they like things the way they are, as middlemen who can take advantage of buyers. The Christie administration's apparently for this, too, which is interesting insofar as Christie himself always talks a free market game. I'll just note to anyone in Central or South Jersey interested in dropping ninety grand on a (great) car that there's a Tesla showroom conveniently located in King of Prussia Plaza, a reasonably easy ride (except at rush hour if you're taking the Schuylkill). Just sayin'. (Re/code)
