Seems A Little Too Easy
-
So, at about 8 am Saturday, I walked out of my house to go for my daily run/plod, and I heard sirens and saw police cars whiz by on the main road. I thought it might have been an accident, but whatever, and went on my way. And later, I saw Coast Guard choppers overhead, and a small plane making insanely sharp turns, and I wondered what the hell was going on. THIS the hell was going on: Another Mexican panga boat washed ashore with a bunch of folks who aren't supposed to be here, and only two were caught and detained. These boats come up the coast from Tijuana filled with illegal immigrants, drugs, or both, and they used to hit land at night down in San Diego. We're 100 miles up the coast, and they're coming up here in increasing numbers in broad daylight. Worse, they're doing it coming up through the Catalina Channel, which happens to be an allegedly heavily patrolled main shipping lane through which practically all maritime shipping from the Long Beach and San Pedro ports go out to the Pacific. How are these small boats filled with people managing to get all the way through the channel to shore before anyone notices? (Daily Breeze)
