A majority of hotels and motels in the U.S. don't let you dial 911 directly. And that's why you get situations like the 9-year-old girl unable to call for help while her mother was being stabbed to death in a motel room. You either have to dial 9 first or dial the front desk. FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai thinks this is unacceptable, and he's right. Should it be the law that all phones let you dial 911 directly? (AP via ABC News)
