Nobody's Gonna Believe YOU Won The 1936 Nobel Peace Prize, You Know
-
How the 1936 Nobel Peace Prize ended up in a pawn shop in South America is unclear, but whoever found it just got $1.16 million at auction for it (actually, $950,000 plus a commission). Why? If you didn't win the prize, why would you pay that kind of money (ten times the maximum the gallery thought they'd get) for someone else's memento? Because it's practically one-of-a-kind? So what? It's like buying someone else's Oscar -- I get that it's rare, but YOU didn't win it. (AP via ABC News)
