If, indeed, the FCC will let Internet service providers charge for "fast lane" service, Net neutrality is pretty much dead. This will stifle innovation, divide content providers into haves and have nots, and drive costs up for consumers. So why is this happening? Because the owners of the pipes also own Washington. They COULD decide to regulate Internet companies as common carriers like phone companies and make them give equal access to everyone, but that's not where we're going. (New York Times)
