'Good Kid,' Apart From The Homicidal Stuff
-
I guess the only thing that prevented a horrific scene in Waseca, MN is that this 17-year-old who told police he planned to kill his family and then massacre his classmates was that he took so long to meticulously plan it that it gave him time to slip up, which he did when someone saw him looking suspicious at a storage unit where he was making bombs. His plan was to kill his family with a rifle, then set a fire in the surrounding countryside, so that first responders would be distracted while he went to the school with bombs and firearms and killed everybody. Predictably, he was described by the school superintendent as a "good kid," quiet and never any trouble, and classmates say he wasn't bullied, though his friends were in the "outcast" crowd. Now, he's being rejected by a juvie hall because he threatened to strangle a staff member. How does someone this mentally ill go undetected? (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)
