Need To Work On That Emergency Plan, Guys
-
I've been to the MGM Grand in Vegas many times, and I know the layout of the Grand Garden Arena. And that's why I'm not at all surprised by the stampede leaving the Mayweather-Maidana fight, when a falling barrier made a sound that people thought was a gunshot. They funnel over 10,000 people through one exit, all at once. What else do they think is going to happen? There are other places that have trouble written all over them - I'm especially given to nerves about the way the upper level at Honda Center, where the Anaheim Ducks play, has only narrow stairwells in the corners for egress after a game. I won't sit up there anymore. Do we need another Hillsborough for stadiums and other public venues to figure out safer ways to get in and out? (Las Vegas Sun)
