Mr. President, A Teenager Won't Say The Pledge. Should We Send Troops?
-
You want people to lose their collective sh-t, just be a high school student who refuses to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. This Texas teen is protesting the government, specifically the NSA spying on citizens. Needless to say, controversy has erupted. Which is silly, because what, exactly, is the harm done to the community if a kid doesn't stand for the Pledge? I mean, the kids who DO stand aren't exactly reciting the pledge with gusto. As I always point out, NOBODY in class actually says all the words. It's a chore -- you get up, murmur sounds that sort of go along with the actual words, and sit down. It's meaningless, and the Pledge shouldn't be meaningless. Besides, one kid dissenting is hardly going to bring down the Union. But OH NOEZ PROTEST zOMG. (KHOU-TV/Houston)
