A bill passed by the California state Senate and before the Assembly now would require consent before sex on college campuses, and because the he-said-she-said aspect might raise problems, the bill includes the idea of written consent. Now, consent IS an issue. There ARE sexual assaults on campuses way, way too often. But can this really be enforced? Are there going to be written contracts every time? Will students need to lawyer up before they hook up? How is this going to work? As I said, there's a real problem of sexual assault on college campuses (and elsewhere, for that matter), but is this the answer? (KCBS-TV/Los Angeles)
