Turns Out That The Idea Is To Actually Win A Championship. Who Knew?

They gave him eight years and a big budget. He delivered nothing. So the Toronto Blue Jays have fired J.P. Ricciardi. This is about four years or so after everyone else concluded that the guy wasn't making the right moves. The inability to move Roy Halliday and getting stuck with Vernon Wells' contract were just the latest in a parade of troubles for a franchise which hasn't been able to compete with the division's big boys in New York and Boston, or even with Tampa Bay. What sucks for him is that the best prospects he drafted are just now starting to show what they can do in the majors. If they turn out well, he won't get the credit. And the Padres got rid of Kevin Towers. The Padres haven't been a contender in a while, and there are plenty of good tickets available at Petco Park. Time for a change.
