What, You Want Us To Put Pomegranate Juice In Our Pomegranate Juice? Stuff's Nasty
-
The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of POM Wonderful, the pomegranate juice folks, allowing their suit against Coca-Cola over a drink called Pomegranate Blueberry that was only about 0.3% pomegranate juice to go forward on the basis that it was misleading, even if the ingredients label was accurate. Coke says consumers are smart enough to know that juice drinks often have little of the named fruits in them. But would you have known that a juice called Pomegranate Blueberry would be 99.5% apple and grape juice? Of course, POM is being sued, too, for over-hyping pomegranate's health benefits, but at least you know that when they sell you pomegranate, there's mostly pomegranate in there. (Los Angeles Times)
