Hold On, They Still Have Phones In Hotel Rooms?
-
You're in a hotel room. There's an emergency. You dial 911. You don't get help, because many hotel phone systems make you dial a 9 for an outside line. This is not that much of a problem if you're old enough to remember when you had to dial 9 first for practically every office phone everywhere, but it IS a major problem when younger people have to reach the dispatcher. It's an easy fix, but hotels are being slow to do it. The family of a woman who was killed in a hotel room by her estranged husband while her 9-year-old tried, and failed, to call 911 on the hotel phone is pushing for this to change, and it should.
