I'm Offended By My Own Tweets

The emotion that most obviously and easily manifests itself in social media, besides the Happy Birthday emotion (thanks, everyone!) is anger, outrage... you know, what people do when they think they're anonymous and/or the target of their scorn isn't physically in front of them. Everyone seems to do it, whether it's directed at someone in the news who hasn't, in their minds, been properly punished (like Donald Sterling or George Zimmerman), or at someone with whom they merely disagree (like all the folks I follow with political views that do not take anyone else's points into account, whether legitimate or not). This is what Internet discourse is all about. It's pretty sad, actually. (New York Times)
