Aah, We Don't Need To Think, Anyway
-
A study shows what we might have suspected: Handwriting, which is on the way out due to technology and the haste of educators to ditch teaching cursive after the first grade, is most likely a critical part of educational development -- the act of scribbling notes makes a connection between ideas and memory. And when you think about it, that seems to be the way things work -- writing things down in your own scrawl helps you remember and retain them. But the education industry and the government know better, don't they? (New York Times)
