Hey, Officer, C'mere, Take A Look At This 'Evidence'
-
Prosecutors in a teen sexting case in Virginia say they can't verify whose penis was in the texts in question unless they photograph the accused teenage boy's erect penis for comparison purposes. This is about a 17-year-old boy and his 15-year-old girlfriend exchanging nude videos, which is being treated as child pornography by the prosecutors after the girl's mother complained. The boy's guardian wonders if the police are, by insisting on taking penis photos, creating their own child pornography. The issues arising from this case are numerous, but, simply, is this kind of case what the law was meant to deal with? Are the police invading the kid's privacy, and why? Why wasn't the girl charged, too? Could this have been handled differently? (Washington Post)
