And They Have French-Speaking People, So They Know It's Not Pronounced 'Tar-zhay'

It's really interesting to read about how American retailers like Target are bombing badly in Canada despite success in the U.S., with more U.S. chains ready to try their luck anyway. Target's woes are attributed to price -- the experience is apparently not seen as better enough than Walmart (or Canadian Tire, for that matter) to justify higher prices. Walmart succeeded north of the border, and so has Apple, but many others like Sam's Club, Aeropostale, J. Crew, and more have failed or stumbled. Nordstrom is going to give it a go, and so will Saks Fifth Avenue. And it's not just Canada -- chains have tried and failed to expand into different regions just in the U.S. What stores flopped when they came to your town? (CBC)
