Some Kinda Cheesequake (Reference Only Valid To New Jerseyites)
-
A pizza joint in the Florida Keys calls itself "Jersey Boardwalk Pizza" and uses a logo that looks like the Garden State Parkway's familiar green-and-yellow insignia. And the New Jersey Turnpike Authority is now suing the shop for trademark infringement for use of the logo and selling merchandise online with it. Here's the thing: Yes, the logo is a direct rip. But is anyone -- ANYONE -- going to confuse them? One is a pizza shop 1,300 miles south of the other, which is a highway. Was the trademark system meant to prevent homages as well as deliberate commercial infringement? (AP via Bergen Record)
