Someone Always Wants To Game The System
-
PTSD is real. But some folks suspect that a lot of PTSD claims submitted by vets to get disability benefits are exaggerated at best, faked at worst. After all, you can go look up the symptoms online and say you feel 'em all. And with PTSD awards skyrocketing (and costing up to $3,000 per month tax-free), some psychologists say they're seeing people cite most or all of the symptoms, which they say isn't how the disorder works. One psychologist who spent 15 years in the VA system says that "It's an open secret that a large chunk of patients are flat-out malingering." But they can't catch all of the fakers, and as a result, you pay. (Los Angeles Times)
