Here's a Michigan town where decades of pollution at a chemical site led to a situation where birds drop dead from the sky as they fly over. People LIVE near that. Turns out that the birds don't exactly get killed by flying over the dump; they eat insects and grubs who are contaminated, then drop dead from that. How can something like that happen? Who wasn't paying attention? (Detroit Free Press)
