For That Money, They'd Better Have Given Him A Spongebob Band-Aid
-
How badly the U.S. medical system is still broken: A guy had a cut on his finger which wasn't seeming to heal, so he went to the ER. They gave him a tetanus shot, slapped some Neosporin and a Band-Aid on it, and sent him off. Total bill: $9,000. The hospital blames the insurer and says they wouldn't charge that to an uninsured customer. The insurer says that the hospital gouges for out-of-network services. Either way, it's insane and unsupportable. (WNBC-TV/New York)
