And They Can't Convince The Padres To Move Away
-
San Diego is faced with a choice, possibly, maybe: save the Chargers or save Comic-Con. See, there's a limit to the money they have to blow on... er, spend on new facilities. Comic-Con wants expansion of the San Diego Convention Center. The Chargers want a new stadium downtown. Both are assumed to be ready to move out of town if they don't get what they want. And with the City Council voting unanimously not to appeal a court rejection of the Convention Center financing plan, it may be a sign that the city would pick the NFL over cosplayers. They're going to try to keep both, but it won't be easy. And there are pros and cons on either side. But everyone always seems to have their hands out, even rich people and businesses, and the public is expected to pay. (Los Angeles Times)
