Doesn't Bother Metta World Peace Or Whatever He's Calling Himself Now

I understand why venues sell naming rights, but it makes things hard for the public when a name changes suddenly. Take the change in name of the Tampa Bay Times Forum, the arena where the Lightning play, to Amalie Arena, named after a locally-based oil company. If you're finally used to Tampa Bay Times Forum (after it was the Ice Palace and St. Pete Times Forum for years), "Amalie Arena" is going to be confusing. I'm still not used to calling the arena in Anaheim "Honda Center" -- it's still The Pond to me (which was a prior naming rights deal). I miss the days when you knew where The Spectrum and Boston Garden and Chicago Stadium were and didn't have to remember which Wells Fargo, TD Bank, and United Airlines venue was which.
