Your Tear-Jerker For Today
-
I'd seen the story about the 101-year-old man hit and killed as he crossed the street in the Boyle Heights section of L.A., but that's not the whole story. Turns out the 101-year-old guy and his 93-year-old friend would meet at 6:15 every morning for 31 years to take a half-mile walk to get coffee. Every day for 31 years, they'd walk in the morning darkness to a fast food place -- McDonald's for 28 years, then Burger King after a customer made fun of them for being too old -- and have a couple of coffees and talked. That ended when some moron plowed into the older man and then tried to get away. The younger man is continuing his walks now, alone, and it's about as sad as anything you'll read today.
